How to get started
Thank you for taking time to inquire about our counseling services. Accessing counseling is a brave thing to do not only for your self to feel better, but to improve your mood, demeanor and the quality of your life and interactions with everyone else on the planet. The more people that are healthy happy and doing well, the more enjoyable it will be to live here and the more productive we can be as stewards of this lovely planet.
Some of the most important questions to ask yourself before starting counseling are as follows:
- What are my goals?
- How frequently do I want to attend counseling?
- Am I interested in Doing Homework outside of counseling?
- How long do I think I will go to counseling?
- Am I intersted in feeling better or getting better. Both are important?
- How much can I afford to spend on counseling and what is it worth to me?
- Does my insurance cover outpatient counseling (see Below)?
We really want to connect and serve those individuals we can. To streamline the enrollment practice we have a dedicated enrollment system thru Theranest. If you have Straight Medicare, MHN, Helathnet, United Health, Optum or are private pay or are using your out of network benefit you can sign up directly on Theranest – our Customer Management and Scheduling software and request an initial phone consultation appointment.
Step 1. Click on this link and create a new customer profile.

Step 2. Fill in the Demographics information. All we need is name, address, phone number and Date of Birth. The rest can be left blank.
Sample form filled in below with only required information then click Save Demographics Info button on Top right.
Step 3. Click on the Forms button and then click complete forms fill in the required information on the Standard Intake Form
Step 4. Click save and next, then sign and submit
Step 5. Once we get this information and review your insurance plan we will reach out to schedule an initial phone consultation and schedule an intake appointment if you decide to work with us.
Currently we are accepting new MHN, Healthnet, Straight Medicare, insurance clients in Sacramento.
Note we do not work with Medi CAL or EAP.
Initial Phone Consultations
Free 20 minute Phone Consultation
During this phone consultation we what is happening that has you reaching out for extra support, discuss common symptoms such as depression, anxiety, and relationship issues, discuss methods, what you are looking for in a clinician and payment options. If we decide to work together we will sign you up for a first appointment.
Initial Phone Consultations are available by appointment and first come first serve as Follows:
Mondays 9am, 9:30am
Thurdays 9am, 9:30am and 10am
Fridays 9am, 9:30am and 10am
Insurance
Copayments are determined by your insurance company.
If you are not sure what your insurance company covers or who it is or what your copay is – we strongly suggest you contact the member services number on the back of your card and request an explanation of your “Outpatient Counseling Benefits”
Currently we are accepting new Optum, United Health, Magellan, and Straight Medicare insurance clients in both Sacramento and Folsom. Note we do not work with Medi CAL.

Cost
Choosing the right therapist
This is probably one of the next most important factors to consider. Having a good connection with your therapist will not ensure that your counseling goals will be met. However, choosing a therapist that you can’t connect with or don’t like will usually cause many problems in counseling. As such, you should think about what you are looking for in a counselor and what some of your triggers and dislikes are.
Some of the Big factors are
Age Gender Orientation Cost Insurance panels.
Availability Location Hours
Specialization in issues you are addressing
Specialization in therapy techniques you are interested in or recommended by your Primary Care Physician
Spiritual orientation and use as a treatment modality Or a non-Theistic approach
Career background

Setting up your first appointment
We really want to connect and serve those individuals we can. Unfortunately, we are a growing counseling center with two locations, but with slim margins for the insurance business and high costs for rent and staffing. Therefore it is difficult to adequately supply enough administrative support to answer all inquiries. If you have Medicare, United Health, Optum or are private pay or are using your out of network benefit you can sign up directly on our Customer Management and Scheduling software and request an initial phone consultation appointment. Be sure to enter all the requested information including billing, including: insurance number and plan, name and address, date of birth, phone number and information about what’s going on that has you reaching out for extra support. When we get this information we can review and ensure that we can work together and get reimbursed. Once we determine that we will work with you to schedule an initial phone consultation.
What If I don’t have access to a computer or have difficulty filling in online forms?
Some of you may not want to put personal information on the system.. While Theranest, our vendor, is a HIPAA secure platform things can and do happen with personal information. Others may simply not have the ability or focus to enter this information. If that is the case you can mail or fax the following information to us so that we can ensure we can bill for our work together.
