Meditation and Renewal

Busy (ness) often equals Busi (ness)

Working thru busy ness and stress

Working, deadlines, taking care of household chores and responsibilities, fixing a car, scheduling medical appointments, talking to your kids teachers, cooking, cleaning, fixing UGGH! It can be overwhelming and if we don’t set aside time for meditation, rest and renewal it is easy to lose our way.

Symptoms of Being stressed include:

  • Being short tempered
  • poor sleep
  • endless distractions that no longer get the job done
  • weight gain or loss
  • erratic heart activity
  • eye twitches
  • Friends asking – what’s wrong?
  • And feeling like you just want to hide under the covers

Left unchecked these stress symptoms will eventually transform to higher levels of anxiety and depression.

Anxiety – because we feel we need to keep our eye on all of the moving pieces and be sure not to miss anything.

Depression – because we know something is wrong and needs to change, yet we are not putting any time into problem identification or resolution.

Ordinary Life is too ordinary

So, What Works for you?

  • Renewal and Meditation

When I feel like this I take time to unplug. and When I say Unplug I mean unplug!!

I just got back from a 5 day silent retreat near Squaw Valley with Adayashanti. Click here for his website.

COMPLETE SILENCE

  • No talking
  • No cell phones
  • No electronics
  • No hand gestures
  • No notes
  • No Books
  • only a notebook for reflection

Nature and Renewal

It Was Amazing!

I spent hours in contemplation and stillness. Until the hurried speed of my life slowed, until the snow globe of my life which is constantly swirling in motion had a chance to settle. I ate simple meals, had hours of uninterrupted time to be with my thoughts and ponder:

  • Why am I so busy?
  • What keeps me from stillness?
  • What is it that sees, hears, and thinks?
  • Where is it my thoughts come from?

After daily meditation for 14 years these questions still have resonance and meaning to me. They also provide a way to see to a bigger truth. I am busy because my mind is running the show. I keep myself from stillness. The other two, I’m still working on.

In Joy and Transformation to all my fellow travelers.
